In an effort to transform health and care services within the region through the early adoption of technology in healthcare and related organisations, West Yorkshire has unveiled a new Healthtech Strategy alongside the West Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership (WY HCP) and Yorkshire and Humber Academic Health Science Network (Y&H AHSN) Innovation and Improvement Hub. By creating a cohesive, innovation-driven Healthtech ecosystem, the West Yorkshire Combined Authority's strategy aims to increase regional wealth and population health. By promoting joint Healthtech programmes, events, and relationships with other regions, the strategy's proponents seek to entice more regional partners. The strategy also gives top priority to laying out paths for assistance and navigation inside the Healthtech environment. Kirklees Council President and Chair of the Business Economy and Innovation Committee, Cllr. Pandor, said: "This strategy defines how our strategic and collaborative methods will be in accordance with the ecosystem as a whole. In order to create an integrated system for healthtech innovation in West Yorkshire, this will start to minimise fragmentation and bring together the region's universities, health and care system, LEP, Combined Authority, and healthtech sector. A New Healthtech Strategy Outlines the Region's Healthtech Innovation Plan "It establishes the area as a hub of healthtech knowledge that will increase productivity and offer high-quality patient outcomes. The strategy outlines high-level goals that will be supported by a comprehensive, "live," and dynamic action plan that is owned by the Healthtech Cluster." The West Yorkshire Innovation Festival 2022 event at The University of Huddersfield on Tuesday, October 4, served as the official introduction for the Healthtech plan. The region has over 20% more value-adding medical technology companies than any other UK Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) area, according to the Office for Life Sciences. TytoCare, a wireless handheld device that enables professionals to conduct medical checks for the ear, throat, lungs, heart, temperature, skin, and abdomen anywhere, is one instance of Healthtech that has already been used locally.
