A Startup that Targets the Wedding Industry lands $2.3M in Funding

Elizabeth and Nora  Sheils are the co-founders of Rock Paper Coin. They are in-law sisters. Rock Paper Coin, a firm based in Portland, Oregon, has received $2.3 million in order to simplify payments for wedding vendors. To date, the business has raised $4.8 million, including a $1.6 million round from the previous year. The 2019 business with 15 employees managed to withstand the wedding downturn pandemic and is now expanding "rapidly," according to CEO Elizabeth Sheils. Rock Paper Coin creates solutions for couples getting married, wedding planners, and merchants. With the help of technology that digitizes contracts, invoices, and payments, the entire wedding process is intended to be automated. Couples managing their own event can use the platform as a "wedding binder" with budgeting and other features. Together with her sister-in-law Nora Sheils, Shells founded Rock Paper Coin. They were employed by Bridal Bliss, a reputable decor and event planning company Nora founded in 2002. The absence of digital tools for tracking contracts and payments, however, annoyed the two. HearstLab, Stormlight Holdings, and other investors joined the investment round, which was organized by the Portland startup firm Elevate Capital.
