In accordance with a recent rumor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will include two Nuvia Phoenix I cores and six Phoenix M cores, yielding single- and multi-core Geekbench scores of 2,070 and 9,100, respectively. The launch of The AP is scheduled for 2024.

The quad-cluster design of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 with its intriguingly organized six performance and two efficiency cores was recently revealed via a report. Its Geekbench 5 single-thread score has previously been revised from the initially-promised 1,950 to 1,800. The rumor is confirmed by yet another leak from Weibo and Twitter user @Tech Reve, which reveals something spicier.

In Geekbench’s multi-core test, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is expected to score roughly 6,500 points, or around 20% more than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. (codenamed SM8650). With a single-core score of close to 1,800, it is comparable to Apple’s most recent products. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will continue to use the same 5 nm class node (N4P) from the Taiwanese chipmaker, however the A17 Bionic will probably reclaim the advantage because it is produced on TSMC’s 3 nm node.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 (codenamed SM8750), which succeeds it, is rumored to be the first mobile AP to feature Qualcomm’s new Nuvia cores in a 2+6 (2x Phoenix I plus 6x Phoenix M) architecture. Its single-core and total Geekbench 5 scores are expected to be 2,070 and 9,100. (multi-core). This is probably because the AP will be produced on TSMC’s N3E node and the Nuvia cores were created from the ground up. The aforementioned score, however, might only apply to a preliminary version of the product, and it will do considerably better when it is released in 2024.
