Apple’s new developer update will give its Always-On display a more streamlined experience. We had never seen anything like the company’s approach to the feature before. While Android took a more minimalist approach, Apple took a more grand approach. The iPhone 14 Pro, like its bigger brother, the iPhone 7s and 7 Plus, will now have an always-on display.

With the launch of iOS 16.2 beta 3, developers now have access to the newest build of iOS, which includes numerous bug fixes and tweaks. So far, there are two notable changes: one involving how the Always-On Display function is now implemented, and the other involving Apple Music. The iPhone 14 Pro’s Always-On Display was distinct in that it dimmed the screen while retaining the background on the screen visible. This is in stark contrast to Android handsets, which have traditionally taken a more minimalist approach, displaying notification icons on a black background.

Apple has added the ability to disable the wallpaper in AOD. You can also disable notifications. In terms of Apple Music, new play and shuffle buttons were introduced, adding a bit more pop. The translucent buttons can diffuse the colors in the background, allowing them to adapt to featured album art.
