With the help of a new workflow plugin from Alteon.io, a comprehensive cloud-based hub created especially for video makers, users of Apple's Final Cut Pro can now share files more rapidly and securely.
Users can upload data directly to the safe cloud storage infrastructure offered by Alteon, saving them from being shipped around between collaborators on hard drives. Creators can then share that media with anybody in the globe with a single click, establishing security-enhancing permissions and optional expiration dates.
Users can download media from Alteon directly into Apple's non-linear editing (NLE) platform and watch and modify their content after installing the workflow extension from Alteon for Final Cut Pro.
When dealing with high-quality professional file formats like Blackmagic RAW, which Alteon natively supports, collaborators with access to the project in Alteon can then download either the actual file or an automatically created proxy.
The end result is a quicker, simpler method for sharing and storing media, avoiding the time-consuming IT setups and physical hard drive shipping that have long plagued the creative business.
The Alteon team is already working on new approaches to further simplify workflows, such as enabling Final Cut Pro users to access time-stamped comments made in Alteon.
The Alteon plugin comes as the number of Final Cut Pro users increases among both seasoned and new clients for content creation.
Millions of devoted consumers use the NLE every day, and professional productions all around the world utilize it to produce ground-breaking movies, television shows, and web content.
According to Cimaglia, "our core objective is to democratize the creative industry by removing the obstacles that have long kept independent contractors, content producers, and small enterprises from reaching their full potential."
