Anita Pointer from Pointer Sisters dies at 74

One of the Grammy-winning Pointer Sisters, Anita Pointer, who had a run of singles like "Automatic" and "I'm So Excited," has passed away at the age of 74. She passed away on New Year's Eve at her Beverly Hills home in California while surrounded by family, according to her publicist, Roger Neal. Her family expressed their profound sadness in a statement. They said that she was the one who had kept them all close and together for so long. "Each of us will carry on her affection for our family. With Anita there, heaven is a more caring and beautiful place. June and Bonnie Pointer, two sisters, created the first version of the Pointer Sisters ensemble in the late 1960s. Anita Pointer The Pointer Sisters' debut album, The Pointer Sisters, featuring their first smash single, Yes We Can Can, was released in 1973 after the addition of Anita, the second-oldest, and Ruth, the youngest. The Pointer Sisters were the first black female ensemble to appear at Nashville's Grand Ole Opry as a result of it. After Bonnie departed the group in 1978, it almost split up. But they persisted, and Anita, June, and Ruth went on to have top 10 successes in the 1980s, including Fire, Slow Hand, He's So Shy, and Jump (For My Love), all of which were written by Bruce Springsteen.
