In 2019, Apple discontinued its hardware-based 3D Touch functionality with pressure-sensitive displays. The reason given at the time was that few users had discovered and were utilizing the feature, but those who had loved it. Apple switched to haptic feedback instead, which simulates pressure sensitivity on the phone rather than the screen, but it was never quite the same. That was primarily due to how rapidly 3D Touch operated when pressing on an app to display a pop-up menu. The updated Settings app now has a section that is really labelled "3D & Haptic Touch," as originally noted by Twitter user AppleIntro. Searching for that name in the initial beta led to the old Haptic Touch settings section, but it has since been renamed to include both. The choices are updated by using the Haptic Touch accessibility feature. Before, you could select whether haptic touch responded to your touch quickly or slowly.
