Apple, as you are probably aware, does not make it simple to manually update your AirPods to new firmware editions. Instead, the company stated that new firmware versions will be installed when the AirPods are attached to your iPhone via Bluetooth.

How To check the firmware version of your AirPods, go to:

  • Go to the Settings app on your iPhone.
  • Navigate to the “Bluetooth” menu.
  • Spot your AirPods in the list of devices.
  • Tap the I next to them.
  • Examine the “Firmware Version” number.
