New firmware updates for AirPods
Version 5B58 is the new firmware variant for these new AirPods. The update is now available for all of the above-mentioned AirPods models. This is an upgrade from the past firmware version of 4E71, and it is the same version that was released this week for the AirPods Pro 2.
"Bug fixes and other improvements," according to Apple's release notes. Always helpful!
Apple, as you are probably aware, does not make it simple to manually update your AirPods to new firmware editions. Instead, the company stated that new firmware versions will be installed when the AirPods are attached to your iPhone via Bluetooth.
How To check the firmware version of your AirPods, go to:
- Go to the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Navigate to the "Bluetooth" menu.
- Spot your AirPods in the list of devices.
- Tap the I next to them.
- Examine the "Firmware Version" number.
