Apple is reportedly working on internal screen development for its upcoming 2024 watches and mobile devices. The corporation made this choice as part of an endeavour to rely less on its technological partners.
The company's relationship with the two businesses could be impacted if it produces more internal components for its products, such as replacing Key Broadcom Chips for the iPhone and
Intel Corp. Chips for the Mac.
Apple is already making preparations for the internal screen development of its 2024 Apple Watches, which will go into production. According to
Bloomberg, the company plans to start replacing the present display in the most expensive Apple Watches by the end of the next year.
Even while this may be breaking news for everyone, a prior report suggests that the corporation has been planning for this ever since.

In a 62,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Santa Clara, California, where a small number of screens were produced by Apple for testing purposes, Apple has been trying to design and produce its own device display
since 2018. The company's headquarters are about fifteen minutes away from this site.
Wei Chen, who also oversees the business's display technology division under Johny Srouji's Hardware Technologies Division, is in charge of this project. As the organisation moves to a new endeavour, the offerings for the new screen display may be limited in the initial months.

Apple purchases its screens from a variety of suppliers, including Japan Display Inc., Sharp Corp., and BOE Technology Group Co., in addition to Samsung and LG.
According to reports, numerous manufacturers have been working for years to perfect the microLED display technology because it is fresh to the market and provides a number of improvements.

By doing this, the conventional OLED (organic light-emitting diode) display will be upgraded to microLED technology. Apple intends to add this display to other products besides watches, such as iPhones. The first product is scheduled to be released in the spring of 2025 once production begins in 2024, according to reports.
Users will benefit from a variety of improvements over the basic and existing display of Apple Watches thanks to microLED displays. With more reliable colour output, this can produce brightness levels that are significantly greater. Additionally, the LEDs are used right down to the pixels because they provide better colour accuracy, a higher contrast ratio for better HDR, and wider viewing angles.
Additionally, it is more power-efficient and far less prone to burn-in artefacts, which is crucial for these kinds of devices where every minute of battery life counts.
The 2024 version of the Apple Watch Ultra is anticipated to have this display with a significantly larger screen and higher specifications, according to Haitong International Tech Research Analyst Jeff Pu.
