Armie Hammer has finally spoken up. In a brand-new interview with Air Mail that was released on Friday night, Hammer, 36, provided his perspective on the charges that shattered his career as a movie star and forced him to defend himself just over two years ago. Additionally, the Social Network star reacted to the charges of sexual misconduct against him in the lengthy article and rejected any criminal crime, but he acknowledged emotionally abusing ex-partners. Hammer also discussed for the first time how he was sexually assaulted as a child and how the sexual abuse claims controversy in February 2021 caused him to have suicidal thoughts. Furthermore, Hammer revealed in the interview that a youth pastor molested him when he was just 13 years old. He also claimed that this abuse was the reason for his interest in BDSM. In addition, according to Air Mail, Hammer informed his godmother, Candace Garvey, who later validated the allegation to the publication, and an older acquaintance who has since passed away about the claimed childhood tragedy. Then I realized that my kids were still on shore and that I couldn't do that to my kids."

More details

The problems of Armie Hammer first became public when many women came forward in January 2021 with allegations of misconduct and published purported communications from him centered around BDSM and cannibalistic fantasies. Consequently, the actor left several acting projects, including Shotgun Wedding with Jennifer Lopez and Gaslit with Julia Roberts and Sean Penn, as well as The Godfather-inspired Paramount+ series The Offer and Taika Waititi's Next Goal Wins. He was also soon dropped by his talent agency WME and his personal publicist. She claimed that they had been in an on-and-off four-year relationship and that the actor had "mentally, emotionally, and sexually" abused her. In addition, when the alleged affair allegedly took place, Hammer was married to Elizabeth Chambers. Hammer told Air Mail that "the power dynamics were off" and acknowledged that he was "one million percent" emotionally abusive to both women. However, Hammer disclosed to Air Mail that he is now prepared to start afresh. At the end of May 2021, Hammer reportedly checked himself into rehab for drug and alcohol problems. The Call Me by Your Name star also revealed that he is helping another recovering addict transition out of rehab by serving as his sober companion.

What's more

During his interview with Air Mail, Armie Hammer also considered his possibility of returning to Hollywood, telling the outlet that he doesn't see it happening any time soon. "No one will hire me. No one will insure me. I can't get bonded for a project — nothing," he explained. "And no one will touch me because if they hire me, then they are the people who support abusers."
