As Always, Apple Influenced a New Phone From Xiaomi

Even though 2022 is still a ways off, Android manufacturers are already announcing their large flagship devices that will dominate sales for the duration of next year. The new OEM to release a phone with Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, following Vivo's introduction last month, is Xiaomi, with the simply called Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro. These two designs depict large (6.73 inches) and tiny (6.36 inches) phones, respectively. Since the smaller phone is an iPhone, it's more intriguing. Because Xiaomi enjoys emulating Apple, it's difficult to imagine the Xiaomi 13 as anything other than an iPhone given its square camera block and flat-sided perimeter band. The iPhone's flat sides also look beautiful, thus it appears far better than the Xiaomi 13 Pro's curved sides. With curved screen edges and a beveled ring around the phone, the larger "Pro" variant has a more general Samsung-style appearance. The ceramic rear panel replaces the glass one Pro-model design flair. [caption id="attachment_71498" align="aligncenter" width="1200"]Xiaomi 13 Xiaomi[/caption] The latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC is included in both phones. It has an ARM Cortex X3 processor, two Cortex A715 CPUs, two Cortex A710 CPUs, and three Cortex A510 CPUs on a 4 nm chip. This mixture of four distinct core designs is an odd, unconventional layout intended to prolong 32-bit functionality for one further year, as we discussed when the device was first introduced. Although Qualcomm and Android aren't yet ready, ARM wants to kill 32-bit. The lesser variant sports a 6.36-inch, 120 Hz, 24001080 OLED display, whilst the Pro has a 6.73-inch, 32001440 OLED display. Both have 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB of storage and 8GB or 12GB of RAM. The base model features a 4500 mAh battery and 67 W charging, compared to the Pro model's 4820 mAh battery with 120 W cable charging. Both devices feature 50 W wireless charging, Wi-Fi 6E (rather than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2's optional Wi-Fi 7 compatibility), and IP68 dust and water resistance. Each lens is divided by a thin line, which should reduce glare that may result from a single large continuous piece of glass. The 50 MP, 1-inch Sony IMX989 primary sensor, 50 MP wide-angle, and 50 MP telephoto lenses are all included in the Pro model. The main camera of the non-pro variant has a slightly smaller 1/1.49-inch sensor, and it also has 10 MP telephoto and 12 MP ultrawide cameras. These phones will never be sold in the US, but they frequently see some sort of distribution in Europe. They currently cost 3,999 yuan ($573) for the Xiaomi 13's base model and 4,999 yuan ($717) for the Pro version in China.
