ASUS teased the Zenbook 17 fold OLED at CES at the start of this year, but now it made it official at IFA 2022. ASUS revealed that this 17.3-inch foldable Zenbook 17 tablet PC will start at $3,500 (£3,300 in the UK) and start rolling out globally by the end of the year. The Zenbook 17 Fold, a hybrid device has an OLED display of a 4:3 aspect ratio when fully opened, and a 2.5K touchscreen with a 180-degree hinge that folds to effectively create dual 12.5-inch and 1920 x 1280 displays with a 3:2 aspect ratio. Moreover, the screen has a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, a 100 percent DCI-P3 color gamut, 0.2 ms response time, a 60 Hz refresh rate, up to 500 nits of brightness, and TÜV Rheinland-certified low blue-light emissions. Additionally, when fully unfolded, it can stand on its own kickstand and work as a monitor which can be a nice combination for office work, combined with the Bluetooth keyboard. Subsequently, the Zenbook 17 Fold OLED can be used as a conventional laptop with a magnetically-attachable physical keyboard and only half of its display at 12.5-inch and 1920x1280px. And if you just fancy a tablet, the Zenbook 17 Fold OLED can be used in the hand, though at 17.3-inches it is quite big.  Two Thunderbolt 4 ports allow for fast charging of the 75 Wh battery and they'll enable you to connect the tablet to external displays. The only other port is a 3.5 mm audio combo jack. The Zenbook 17 Fold OLED runs on Windows 11 and is powered by Intel's i7-1250U processor with 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM. however, this foldable laptop has Intel's 12th-gen hybrid architecture with 2 performance cores and 8 efficiency cores and basically, the graphics are managed by Intel's Iris Xe. There's a 1TB M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD, the latest and fastest storage till now. There's Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos support in the laptop, and equipped with four Harman Kardon-certified speakers. It also has a 5MP webcam, a color sensor, and an HD IR camera that will allow you to log in with a face scan. With the built-in touchpad, the device comes with a full-size ErgoSense Bluetooth keyboard which enables you to place it on top of one-half of the folded device. Alternatively, you can place the keyboard on your desk and keep the entire display visible. The Zenbook 17 Fold is 17.4mm thin. It weighs 1.6 kg (3.5 pounds) without the keyboard and 1.99 kg (4.4 lbs) with the peripheral. All good, but it's a fairly expensive device preferably including an early adopter tax. Well, that's more than two brand-new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4s, be mindful!
