Following the seizure of shipments carrying 87 pounds of marijuana at a UPS facility in a St. Petersburg suburb last year, Florida law enforcement officials detained two suspects last week, according to reports.
According to court documents, Bennie Neely, 41, was detained on Wednesday on suspicion of importing marijuana and trafficking cannabis, both felonies in the first degree.
On Friday, Corey Jovan Brown, 38, was detained on the same suspicions.
On February 13, 2021, police discovered two substantial boxes carrying 87 pounds of "marijuana plant material" at a UPS store in Pinellas Park, according to WFLA.
The local news source claims that the packages' tracking data allowed authorities to identify the two men as suspects.
According to court documents, both individuals have subsequently been released on bond.
