According to a report, on Monday, January 30, France and Australia agreed to a combined manufacturing and delivery of several thousand 155-millimeter artillery shells to Ukraine, which will begin in the coming weeks. The multi-million dollar endeavor follows President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine's appeals to his Western partners for increased armament supplies to his country's armed forces as it finds itself engaged in a conflict with Russia that has lasted for almost a year. French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu and Australian Defense Minister Richard Marles jointly made the announcement. This cooperation could be a sign that the two countries have resolved their submarine disagreement. This is due to the Australian government's decision to exchange conventionally powered submarines from France which would have cost $66 billion for nuclear submarines obtained through a covert agreement with the US and the UK. Due to national security concerns, they haven't disclosed any other information on the collaboration. The first batch of shells may be sent in the first quarter of 2023, according to Sébastien Lecornu, minister of the French armed forces. As the conflict continues, he continues, they want to provide Ukraine with shells on a regular basis. The current statement comes at a time when negotiations with regard to arming Kyiv's soldiers with long-range missiles and other weaponry are moving quickly between Ukraine and its Western partners. It also comes after the US's decision to send its M1 Abrams tanks, despite prior hesitations about carrying out this plan due to the tanks' potential for being too challenging for Ukraine to handle. But in the end, the Biden administration chose to send 31 of these military cars. As a result, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz decided to send 14 Leopard 2 tanks. In addition, he overruled his prior concerns that a unilateral action may anger Russia, allowing other Western allies to send their own tanks. By giving armaments to NATO allies like Poland, South Korea has been assisting Ukraine in an indirect manner. However, the nation is forbidden by law from transferring weapons to countries that are actively involved in the battle. https://www.gadgetany.com/news/europes-weapons-industry-benefitted-the-most-from-russia-ukraine-war-experts/ Additionally, a US official revealed to AP that the US had agreements with South Korea for the shipment of about 100,000 artillery rounds to Ukraine. Officials from South Korea, however, insisted that these weapons were only meant for the US military. Since Russia's invasion in February 2022, NATO and several Western partners have supported Ukraine by supplying various weaponry to bolster its military capabilities.
