The bodies of a mother and her 7-year-old daughter were discovered in a submerged car in a Wisconsin lake, prompting authorities to launch an investigation into their deaths. Family members have identified the mother as 25-year-old Khalilah Brister and her daughter, Tyrielle Jefferson, according to WTMJ-TV. Furthermore, their bodies were discovered in Northridge Lake on Thursday afternoon after someone spotted a car in the water, according to Milwaukee police. However, their cause of death has not been made public. According to WTMJ, who quoted the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a 911 call from a suicidal person who was "threatening to drive her vehicle into the lake with her daughter inside." The outlet reported that the call was apparently canceled on the way to the scene since it was thought the pair had left the area and was traveling to another jurisdiction. Nevertheless, the broadcaster reported that local cops looked into the location and found nothing. Additional details about this case

Khalilah's mother Jackie Brister called 911 that morning, according to sources, to report that she hadn't spoken to her daughter since the day before when Khalilah had taken her car and wallet without permission. Jackie stated, "I told them she wasn't right, you know? That had never happened before. I told them that, and their concern was 'We'll find your car.'" According to Jackie, "The other grandmother called me and said, 'Jackie, there's a lady on my phone. She was down by Bradford Beach. She said Tyrielle came running up to her, said her mother was trying to kill her, and the lady said she went back and talked to my daughter and my daughter said she was tired.'" Jackie added that the woman who allegedly saw them last said, "Khalilah told her 'she just wanted to go into the water.'"

What's more

Moreover, the remains of the mother and her 7-year-old daughter were discovered some hours later. When Jackie first alerted authorities about her daughter and granddaughter's disappearances, they apparently did not issue an Amber Alert. And now Jackie is wondering why this happened. She said, "I don't think the sheriff took it seriously when we called Wednesday night and was talking about her going into the water. Why wasn't an Amber Alert issued then?" She continued, "I'm very angry because now I don't have my daughter. I don't get to see my granddaughter grow up." On another note, according to Tyrielle's great uncle Donnell Boose, who spoke to WTMJ, she "had so much joy, so much life." He added, "Just every time you see her. So spunky and full of joy. It's a tough one. This is tough."
