One of the few options accessible for consumers who would only want to have locally-stored data instead of putting everything on the cloud is the Eufy lineup of smart cameras, which is owned by Anker. Sadly, life without clouds might not really be cloud-free.
Paul Moore, a security specialist, called attention to a rumored security flaw in Eufy's security cameras and video doorbells. Moore claimed that despite not having used a Cloud Storage subscription, his Eufy camera was sending images of his face and personally identifying information to the cloud. One of the claims of Eufy's cameras, along with local storage, is that whatever it does record would be completely secured within your device. However, someone else then brought out the fact that the data uploaded isn't even encrypted, making problems worse.
What justifies this? Your Eufy camera will snap the images if you enable motion notifications with thumbnails, and it will then temporarily upload them to a server to send them to you. In any case, going forward, the corporation will handle customer data with more care and provide more disclosure. To make it clear that push notifications with thumbnails necessitate preview photos that will be temporarily kept in the cloud, it said it was "revising the push notifications option language in the eufy Security app," according to a statement to Android Central.
These pictures will still be uploaded to the cloud if you have motion notifications with thumbnails enabled. If you want totally local recordings, you must disable that option.
