According to a speech Bill Gates gave at the ASU+GSV conference in San Diego, AI chatbots like ChatGPT will soon displace human instructors.
The billionaire believes that in the following 18 months, AI will help children learn to read and write. Being a cost-effective solution, this development will be especially helpful to low-income parents who cannot afford a human tutor.
The billionaire anticipates AI chatbots taking the place of human teachers in the classroom, conversing with pupils to assist them identify areas where they need to grow.
According to Gates, AI will initially aid students in developing their reading and writing skills before offering writing guidance to teachers. The Khanmigo project by Khan Academy, which uses GPT-4 to power a virtual teacher, is one illustration of this.
In addition to acting as a writing mentor, this technology has the ability to help students of different age groups learn about subjects like math, science, and the humanities.
A number of developments in computer hardware, the accessibility of vast amounts of data, innovations in machine learning techniques, and the emergence of cloud computing are all responsible for the evolution of AI, including chatbots like ChatGPT.
