Blazing Fast Wi-Fi 7 Mesh Hardware Is Coming From Qualcomm

Perhaps Qualcomm's most well-known product is the Snapdragon chip used in many Android smartphones and tablets. The business announced today that it is developing hardware for Wi-Fi 7 mesh routers, claiming that the devices will have speeds of "over 20 Gbps." The "Immersive Home Wi-Fi 7 Platform," a new lineup of hardware from Qualcomm that will be used in upcoming mesh routers, was introduced today. It is, as its name suggests, based on the forthcoming Wi-Fi 7 standard, which, in comparison to Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E (which are still widely used), offers faster speeds and lower latency. In comparison to Wi-Fi 6E, the platform will provide greater performance on the 5 GHz channel and 140% more capacity on the 6 GHz band for devices that support Wi-Fi 7. The performance in the actual world will be impacted by walls, wireless interference, and other variables, as is the case with most router speed estimations. It's important to note that Qualcomm will not be marketing routers using the new hardware platform. The Immersive Home 316 Platform, 318 Platform, 326 Platform, and 3210 Platform designs from Qualcomm will instead serve as the foundation for the routers and mesh networks that other businesses will create. Qualcomm did not specify which "manufacturers of home routers and mesh Wi-Fi systems" it was sampling the hardware to at this time. Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen Chipset While the delivery of certified Wi-Fi 7 hardware is widely anticipated in 2024, some businesses are rushing to market with mesh solutions in 2019 before the standard is complete. The new iPad Pro is now the sole Apple product with Wi-Fi 6E, and only a small number of Samsung Galaxy phones and tablets are compatible. As an example, Wi-Fi 6E-capable devices are still hard to find. Even if you get a Wi-Fi 7 router next year, it can be some time before you notice any real advantages.
