Charge Time Almost Halved With New Porsche Taycan Onboard Charger

Porsche has disclosed an update to the Taycan's onboard charger. The present model of charger can now be replaced by an AC 19.2 kW charger for owners of the vehicle. The Performance Battery and the Performance Battery Plus are the two charger models that will be offered. With the basic part, you can charge the battery completely in 4.8 hours as opposed to the 9.5 hours needed with the earlier model. The charge time is cut in half for the Pro model, from 10.5 to 5.3 hours. The Taycan can travel about 304 miles (489 kilometers) on a single charge, for context. 2020 Taycans will additionally benefit from Plug and Charge support in conjunction with a My Porsche account. Because this functionality became the norm in 2021, later models are unaffected. The new Porsche onboard charger is installed next to the front trunk; the part costs US$1,850.15, and the installation takes about 12 hours to complete.
