ChatGPT has received some scathing criticism from the AI expert at Meta

Despite ChatGPT's enormous popularity and daily media attention, Yann LeCun, Meta's head of artificial intelligence research, is unimpressed. Although it might come as a surprise, Meta has an AI program of its own that has been making significant advancements. For instance, 200 languages, including those spoken but unwritten, can be handled by Meta's translation AI. LeCun recently took the chance to express his opinion that OpenAI's ChatGPT "is not really creative" during a web debate series run by the Collective[i] Forecast. According to the ZDNet story, LeCun continued to stress that work on Large Language Models (LLM) started decades ago and ChatGPT was extremely well-built but primarily based on established methodologies. Lecun concurred in a previous tweet with a New York Times piece that claimed Google and Meta were hesitant to make their rival solutions available because of the possibility of false information and hazardous content. It's a valid concern given that Meta is a major social media platform that has previously been under media and governmental scrutiny for distributing false information. Considering how simple it is to persuade most LLMs to ignore its safety procedures and social filters, unleashing Meta's LLMs too soon might be fatal for the business. In the meantime, Microsoft expanded its collaboration with OpenAI, in which it has made a significant investment since 2019. Microsoft intends to invest billions in the initiative and employ OpenAI's ChatGPT, Dall-E, and Codex AI technology to improve its products. Microsoft's Azure cloud computing network is used only by OpenAI. AI is used by Meta for advanced research and to identify false information in its social media networks, and Google has long integrated AI into Android and Google search. That makes all the difference to the public because neither firm has made the capabilities of their AI systems accessible to everyone the way that OpenAI's ChatGPT and Dall-E do.
