According to Boulder Police Chief Maris Herold, the adolescent was found approximately 5 p.m. at a residence in Thornton, Colorado. The juvenile was last seen leaving a high school football game on Sept. 30. Police are looking into the teen's whereabouts and what happened while she was away from her family, but they believe she ran away from home. Her parents said that they were concerned for their daughter's safety after receiving a frightening image of their daughter that appeared "damaged and ill" from an unidentified source. Herold stated that Campbell will undergo a medical examination and be sent to the proper social service support resources. There is no proof, according to Boulder's deputy police chief Stephen Redfearn, that Campbell was in danger or was being detained against her will. He stated, "We have no belief that she was detained against her will at this moment. Additionally, Campbell showed no symptoms of damage when she was discovered in Thorton. The youngster took "significant steps," he continued, to avoid speaking with her relatives and the police. However, during the week, investigators gathered data suggesting Campbell was still alive and well via social media and reported sightings. Redfearn noted, "We, nevertheless, had indicators that she was alive throughout the week." The discovery of her had the police feeling relieved. He claimed that it is still too early in the inquiry to determine whether any potential individuals of interest connected to the teen's disappearance will emerge.
