Citing The Inflation, Sony Increases PS5 Prices In Some Countries

Jim Ryan, President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, stated, “We’re seeing high global inflation rates, as well as adverse currency trends, impacting consumers and creating pressure on many industries,” “Based on these challenging economic conditions, SIE has made the difficult decision to increase the recommended retail price (RRP) of PlayStation 5 in select markets across Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), Asia-Pacific (APAC), Latin America (LATAM), as well as Canada.” Sony blames the global economic challenges for the price hike. As a result, they will increase the PS5 price in Europe, the UK, China, Japan, Mexico, Australia, and Canada. The price change will be brought into effect immediately after leaving Japan which is slated to start on Sept. 15. The supply chain is a big issue in most markets even though Sony is increasing the PS5 price. Ryan stated, “Our top priority continues improving the PS5 supply situation so that as many players as possible can experience everything that PS5 offers and what’s still to come.” Below is the list of the new price and the old price with respective countries UK
