The owner of an art gallery in San Francisco is now being charged after a video of him hosing down an unhoused lady went viral. Collier Gwin, the proprietor of Foster Gwin Gallery, was shown in a social media video last week spraying a woman who was seated on a neighboring sidewalk with a garden hose. Additionally, the arrest warrant for Gwin was issued on Wednesday, according to San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. She added, "Gwin is charged w/ misdemeanor battery for the alleged intentional & unlawful spraying of water on & around a woman experiencing homelessness on 1/9/22." (Jenkins later corrected that the incident took place on 1/9/23). Mr. Gwin will face appropriate consequences for his actions." Furthermore, Gwin's gallery vandalism, she said, "is also completely unacceptable and must stop - two wrongs do not make a right." Moreover, Gwin could spend up to six months in county jail if found guilty. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, he might also be required to pay a $2,000 fine. What's more

According to Collier Gwin, the woman can be disturbing, so he called the police and social services about her. He stated, "The whole neighborhood is a part of this situation. The police force is a part of this situation. The city and the social services is a part of the situation. There have been repeated attempts to try to help this woman who is psychotic." "There's absolutely nothing that can be done. They'll take her to a shelter, and they will turn her out in two days," Gwin continued. "They will take her to the hospital, they will release her within a day." He said, "I totally understand what an awful thing that is to do, but I also understand what an awful thing it is to leave her on the streets." He continued, "This woman is a very, very sad situation. She's very psychotic." Lastly, the San Francisco Street Crisis Response Team responded to the incident and offered the woman several service choices, according to a statement from San Francisco police. Both parties denied additional police intervention, the statement continued.
