Corsair Launches Mechanical Gaming Keyboard K70 MAX With New Features

A MAXimalist Keyboard

The RGB MAX is a full-size keyboard with 104 keys and a clean Space Gray color scheme. It has a volume button and media keys that are all in the same place. Each key has a double-shot PBT keycap with translucent writing that stands out against the backlighting. The only thing that really makes this model look different from the RGB Pro is the logo that runs across the top of the board.

Design

The aluminum chassis gives the board a lot of weight, which keeps it in place even under the hands of clumsy typists. At 3.06 pounds, it's a lot heavier than the K70 RGB Pro and other game keyboards, like the Razer BlackWidow V4, which are about half a pound lighter. It definitely doesn't feel cheap. The board is 1.5 inches tall, 6.5 inches wide, and 17.4 inches long. This lets you tilt the keyboard without putting your wrist at risk. Six inserts cross in the middle, leaving just enough space to store the six-foot USB-C wire that comes with the case. The keyboard doesn't have a way to link wirelessly, but it does have a soft wrist rest that can be attached magnetically to the bottom half of the keyboard.

Tournament Mode Setting

Some tools are locked when you're playing a game in Tournament Mode. This keeps players from accidentally closing a window or tabbing out of the game, among other mistakes that could end the game. The switch to turn it on is hidden right next to the USB-C port at the top of the keyboard. Once enabled, the backlighting changes to a fixed color and all custom macros and actions stop working.

Axon Hyper-Processing Technology

Corsair's Axon hyper-processing technology is used again in the K70 MAX. This is a computer unit inside the keyboard that runs an operating system. In short, Corsair says that this brain lets the keyboard hit ultra-low latency and a maximum polling rate of 8,000Hz.  Also Read - Is There Malware? Key Switches

Axon technology has been used in Corsair keyboards before, but this time the company has added new MGX key switches to go with it. The place where the switch is activated can be changed from as high as 3.6mm to as low as 0.4mm in 0.1mm steps. With a low actuation point and an 8,000Hz polling rate, you get a very sensitive keyboard, which is a must for people who like to pull the trigger in games.  The normal is 2.0mm, which makes it easy to type, but when we tested it, the keys moved a bit, which was a big difference from the thick keyboard. The MGX is a linear key switch, which means that it generally has a smooth, quiet click. The keyboard does sound like a typewriter because of acoustic sound reduction.

K70 Max’s Hood

Corsair's software, called iCue, is what controls all of the settings and features under the hood of the K70 Max. You can change how the keys work and other things in up to 50 settings. You can also change the RGB lighting. Also, iCue is one of the few peripheral apps we've found that works with macOS. The software is easy to use on its own, but if you need help, it has lessons for each part of the app. For people who like playing around with their keyboards, iCue has much to offer. You can change the RGB lights and the actuation points for each key. You can even go one step further and set a button to do two different things when pressed.

Rapid Trigger mode

In Rapid Trigger mode, you can set a restart point that you can change in the Razer Synapse app. This is in addition to the point where the trigger is pulled. By default, the Corsair K70 MAX lets you set your own actuation and restart points. However, Corsair plans to add its own Rapid Trigger mode soon after launch through an update to the iCue app. The mode will let you set dynamic activation and reset points, which could help you spam skills in MOBAs or make strafing in FPS games like Valorant more responsive. Corsair's newest product isn't always its best deal, but that's not always bad. Sometimes, more is better. The K70 RGB MAX is a keyboard that has as many features as possible. It has everything a gamer could want and more. Still, it's just a slight change to the K70 RGB Pro.  K70 MAX has a lot to like, especially if you like options like being able to change where the trigger point is.
