Crab Walk Of Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV is Grabbing Everyone's Eyeballs

Hyundai's e-Corner technology, which enables a driver to "crab walk" out of a tight situation, is advancing in new ways. Additionally, driving diagonally and performing zero turns and pivot turns are both options. At least five years have passed since Hyundai began developing the technology, and it has already been demonstrated in custom-built, off-road vehicles. The Ioniq 5 EV, which uses the e-Corner technology, was unveiled by the Korean automaker at CES last week, and based on the footage in the video below, it looks rather amazing. 2023 Hyundai IONIQ 5 Features & Specs | Hyundai USA Photo Credit: Hyundai The most impressive of the maneuvers is the Crab Driving mode, which was created to make it easy for a vehicle to enter and exit small parallel parking spaces. However, you must make sure that the vehicles in front and behind you have enough room to exit, or you risk meeting one (or possibly two!) irate owners when you return to your car. Although it is unclear how helpful the other modes would be, if you live in a city with small streets or travel on frequently congested roads, it's feasible that they could occasionally be useful to get you out of sticky circumstances. Do you want a Hyundai vehicle with this technology installed, but are unsure when you may get one? Though, judging by statements made by Hyundai in 2021, it seems it'll be at least a few more years before it enters the market. Seeing it in the Ioniq 5 EV, however, signals the company is making significant progress with the technology. The Crab Walk mode on the Hummer EV from General Motors, for instance, allows the vehicle to shift across a surface diagonally rather than sideways by partially rotating the rear wheels.
