McDonald’s Australia removed a popular soft drink from its menu and replaced it with the "no sugar" version, infuriating some fans. In a "devastating" video posted to social media on Tuesday, well-known food blogger Russ Eats announced that Sprite was no longer available.

In the video, following a tip-off, Russ – a popular foodie from Newcastle, New South Wales, makes his way to the nearest McDonald's drive-through and orders a medium Sprite. Russ observes the drink is processed as the no-sugar version as the server accepts his order without batting an eye. He asks, "Do you have a normal Sprite, that says Sprite Zero on the screen." We can then hear the McDonald's staff explaining that ordinary Sprite is no longer available at the well-known burger chain. McDonald Furthermore, the employee then responds when Russ urges her to say whether the "normal stuff" will be coming back, saying, "We're not bringing it back." Since then, McDonald's has confirmed the sad news exclusively to news.com.au, stating that the burger juggernaut was eager to hear what customers had to say. According to a spokesperson, McDonald's Australia switched to Sprite No Sugar in all of its outlets. “We look forward to hearing customer feedback on the new beverage option.” Customers' reaction Social media users have already expressed their ideas, and the majority of them seemed to be angry. “NOOO. McDonald’s Sprite was the best drink,” one said. Another person commented, "They removed the best drink." Furthermore, another said, "MACCAS SPRITE WAS HEAVEN AND THEY WENT AND MADE IT HELL." McDonald “What’s everyone gonna do to fix their hangover now? We need the little sugar rush,” another pointed out. Meanwhile, others suggested that offering both beverages would be more sensible, questioning: "Why can’t they have both options so people can make the decision themselves?” On the other hand, some praised the modification, saying that "Sprite Zero tastes better anyway.” Also, Read- McDonald’s New Happy Meals for Adults Russ claims that McDonald's started testing the switch a few months ago before recently implementing it nationwide. The food blogger complains that Macca's "done the dirty" on its customers and that the no-sugar version tastes really unattractive. He is not happy about the move. “My main disappointment isn’t the fact they don’t give us the choice of both Sprites when we have THREE coke choices???, but the fact that they didn’t tell me it was the no sugar version when I ordered,” he remarked.
