Following her father's attack on Paul Pelosi early on Friday, October 28, the attacker's daughter wrote about her father on her blog, calling him a man "consumed by darkness." According to the Daily Mail, David DePape, 42, burst into Nancy Pelosi's San Francisco house while wearing only his underwear and battered the 82-year-old with a hammer while yelling, "Where's Nancy?" Inti Gonzalez said in her now-deleted blog that her father, DePape, had molested her and her brothers when they were little. When she was carrying Gonzalez, her mother met DePape in Maui. Her mother and DePape relocated to the Bay Area after she was born. Gonzalez's mother had left DePape by the time she aged 13 because he had gotten "toxic." Gonzalez's brother Nebosvod began experiencing flashbacks to the period their father had abused them after he left their lives. DePape "physically and sexually [abused] me and my brothers, starting when we were very young and continuing until around 2008, when [Gonzalez] was 7," according to what she claims. She claimed that his attack on Pelosi did not surprise her because she had undergone "severe cruelty" that he inflicted on her and her brothers. She disclosed that she and her brothers both began recalling their father's mistreatment of them as children. Their mother called the police, but due to poor management, "nothing was done about it. He did genuinely try to be a good person but the monster in him was too strong to be safe around," she further wrote, adding, "he barely opened up about himself or his past but it was obvious that he grew up in hell and that we didn’t know the worst of it." She revealed that DePape had once apologized to the three children for his actions. "One time he sat us down in Tilden park. He looked like he was about to cry. He said, 'I'm sorry for everything I have done to you guys. I am more sorry than you will ever know'," wrote Gonzalez, who mentioned that she had not met him since her parents separated. She did, however, contact him four months ago, but the conversation ended when he refused to acknowledge the abuse. She also mentions his online blogs and websites and that he had strong opinions on several world issues. On the whole, she says, "There is some part of him that is a good person even though he has been very consumed by darkness."
