Find a laptop with the Ryzen 7 7840H or Ryzen 9 7945HX if you absolutely want one of the Ryzen 7000 series. The mobile Ryzen 6000 series is the one significant advantage that the lower-end to midrange alternatives have.
At CES 2023, AMD introduced a range of mobile Ryzen 7000 CPUs for laptops, from entry-level SKUs to the extremely quick Zen 4 Ryzen 9 7945HX. The latter has been especially stunning as it competes with even Intel’s 13th-generation Raptor Lake-H CPU, but nearly nothing below it has been as thrilling.
The issue is that the majority of mobile Ryzen 7000 CPUs aren’t even constructed on the Zen 4 architecture, but rather on earlier designs that date back to Zen 2. Therefore, despite having different nomenclature, some of these new 7000 series CPUs may function nearly identically to an older chip.

The 2022 Ryzen 7 6800H and 2023 Ryzen 7 7735HS are two examples of this. Both are built using the same Zen 3+ architecture and have the exact same cache sizes, core counts, and Radeon 680M integrated graphics. According to our comparison charts below, the Beelink SER6 Pro, which is available in both 6800H and 7735HS SKUs, would perform virtually identically across all benchmarks.
One may anticipate that the more recent 7735HS would at least provide higher performance-per-watt, but that also doesn’t seem to be the case. When similar loads are imposed, power consumption between the two small PC SKUs would be almost identical.

If you’re looking around for a laptop with a Ryzen 7 7735HS inside, it might be advantageous to have a look at an earlier model with the Ryzen 7 6800H instead because it would be just as quick and probably less expensive.
