According to a Kent county councilor, the people of Dover are "horrified" following a fire assault at a Border Force migrant center in the port. The suspect, discovered dead at a nearby gas station on Sunday, threw two or three of the objects, which a witness described as petrol bombs. The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit later rendered safe another item discovered in the man's vehicle. Residents were "horrified at the overall situation," according to Nigel Collor. "I'd like to see them stop the boats coming across.," the county councilor from the Conservative party remarked. "I know this is something that's been going on for a few years and if they stopped the boats coming in you wouldn't have the problem. We've got to work closely with the French, haven't we? It's where they're coming from."
More on the incident At 11:22 GMT on Sunday, authorities were summoned to The Viaduct in Dover, where the explosives the suspect had thrown ignited a fire. The incident was captured on camera by a Reuters news agency photographer, who saw the man launch petrol bombs with pyrotechnics attached before killing himself. Furthermore, the incident left two people who were inside the center with minor wounds. Dover fire Suella Braverman, the home secretary, called the attack "distressing." In addition, Natalie Elphicke, a Dover Conservative MP, expressed her dismay and alarm over the current situation. She urged for immediate Anglo-French efforts to stop small boat Channel crossings and mentioned that there had been another incident over the weekend but did not go into detail. On another note, the event is not currently being treated as terrorism, according to Kent Police, who is in charge of the inquiry. Mr. Collor was questioned by BBC Breakfast about the worries Dover people were voicing. Also, Read: Chinese Presents New robot attack dog with machine gun He answered, "They're 50/50 really. Some say words I wouldn't put out on the media, and some say, you know, 'let's help these folks and at least make sure they're looked after." It was "a very sad event," according to Sir Roger Gale, the Conservative MP for North Thanet, adding that some understanding was required.
