According to reports, Dr. Dre is pursuing a lucrative music deal that would enable him to sell the rights to some of his royalties and master recordings for well over $200 million.
Billboard reported that the music entrepreneur is close to finalizing two separate deals to sell some of his music assets, one with Universal Music Group (UMG) and the other with Shamrock Holdings.
Additionally, according to the potential Shamrock contract, Dre would sell his artist royalties from two of his solo albums, together with his portion of N.W.A artist royalties, his producer royalties, and the writer's share of any songs for which he does not own publishing rights. And in the prospective agreement with UMG, Dre would sell the master recording of his debut solo album, "The Chronic," as well as his share of some Kendrick Lamar music.

Most importantly, Dr. Dre is not selling all of his music. He is also not selling his ownership stake in his record company, Aftermath. According to
Billboard, these transactions are largely "passive income streams" that provide around $10 million yearly.
On another note, according to sources close to Dr. Dre, the selling price was actually tens of millions more than the $200 million number reported by
Billboard.
