Elon Musk claims that Iran will soon have 100 Starlinks installed by SpaceX

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk revealed on Monday that they are nearly finished installing about 100 active Starlinks in the Islamic country, as per reports. Three months ago, Musk tweeted that the company would activate the service there amid protests across the entire Iranian nation. The billionaire had announced in September that he would activate Starlink in the nation as part of a project backed by the US and intended to "advance internet freedom and the free flow of information" to Iranians. Iranians may be able to get around the government's restrictions on accessing the internet and some social media sites by using the satellite-based broadband service while there are widespread protests going on. After Mahsa Amini, 22, died in police custody in September after being arrested by the morality police for "unsuitable attire," protests broke out in the Islamic Republic. In remote, rural areas where there is either no internet or a shaky connection, the service tries to offer broadband internet access. The technology used by the Starlink satellite internet service has been around for a while. In essence, radio signals rather than cable or fibre optic technology are used to transmit data through satellite systems. Starlink users on Earth receive data from the orbiting satellites after receiving signals from ground stations. The Starlink constellation's numerous satellites each weigh 573 kg and have a flat body. Musk said in September that he will request the lifting of some sanctions that have been in place since the Nuclear Arms Deal was broken in order to provide this technology to the Iranian people. He also announced on Twitter that he would be searching for exceptions to the limitations and authorization to instal the Starlink service in Iran, using tweets from Iranians who wanted the service enabled. The space firm announced that it intends to begin launching Gen2 satellites "before the end of December 2022" in regulatory documents filed with the Federal Communications Commission. The company is asking the FCC for a special temporary permission (STA) that will last for 60 days so that it can connect current user terminals to upcoming satellites in low-Earth orbit.
