Elon Musk Announces His Resignation As CEO Of Twitter

"As soon as I find someone stupid enough to take the position," according to Elon Musk, he will step down as CEO of Twitter. The billionaire businessman said that he will "simply run the software and servers teams" after a new CEO is in place in a tweet on Tuesday night. He purchased the social media company at the end of October for $44 billion. Following Musk's last-week Twitter poll asking "Should I step down as the head of Twitter?" the decision to resign as CEO was made. In addition, he said that he will follow the poll's findings. In a poll with more than 17 million participants, 57.5% of respondents said he should resign, while 42.5% said he should continue in his position. After the poll ended, Musk remained silent on the subject until Tuesday, when he finally said out loud that he would in fact respect the outcome and appoint someone else to lead Twitter. Of course, no one is currently aware of how long it will take to locate a candidate prepared to take on the responsibility of restoring order at Twitter. Additionally, it will be intriguing to see if Musk continues to make decisions from a distance, as many people already think may occur. Since Musk acquired control of Twitter less than two months ago, there has been a great deal of unrest and controversy surrounding the social media site, including mass staff layoffs, the re-instatement of thousands of previously banned accounts, misunderstandings regarding the Twitter Blue premium tier, and the recent banning and subsequent re-instatement of a number of accounts belonging to journalists who have been critical of Musk.
