Musk's choice to allow Donald Trump on Twitter, according to Jonathan Greenblatt, CEO of the Anti-Defamation League, indicates that Musk is "not even serious about safeguarding the platform from hatred, harassment, and misinformation. "Hey, quit disparaging me," Elon Musk merely retorted. The head of the Anti-Defamation League responds to Musk's decision to reinstate Trump on Twitter. In a tweet, Jonathan Greenblatt implied that the decision to allow Donald Trump back on the platform indicated a lack of commitment to defending it against discrimination, harassment, and false information. It was also emphasized that Trump returned to Twitter following a poll. [caption id="attachment_64333" align="aligncenter" width="1021"]Jonathan Greenblatt Image: ADL[/caption] When the public agrees on something, a poll is conducted. In this instance, the majority of respondents to the poll favored Trump's reinstatement. Greenblatt made the judgment to interpret Musk's decision as not being serious because it was predicated on the public's choice to reinstall Trump. Elon Musk simply said, "Hey, stop slandering me," in response. Libel, or the publication of false information to harm another's reputation, is the definition of defamation on Twitter. Since it was based on a survey, the reputation in this instance wasn't false. Nevertheless, despite the results of the vote, Musk's choice to host and monitor the poll was interpreted as a sign of his lack of commitment to protecting the platform.  Greenbelt offers an analogy in which Trump may be compared to hate, harassment, and false information. He claimed that bringing Trump back on Twitter demonstrated that Musk had not taken steps to protect the site from misinformation and hate speech. Musk responded to him and criticized the comparison he had made. Hate speech, according to Greenblatt's remarks on CNBC, "is part of the price of free expression." This is what he believed in, he continued, and people should be willing to tolerate opinions in a democracy that "we truly don't like, we even loathe." Elon Musk spoke with them while he brought numerous civil rights luminaries, and Greenblatt mentioned that "actions speak louder than words." But what I heard this week gives me hope. The CEO of the Anti-Defamation League claimed that Musk informed them that he would not reinstate users who had been removed from the service until a thorough and open procedure had been completed.  The CEO claimed that Musk made a commitment to continuing the work to ensure election integrity in order to prevent the spread of false information.
