Three hours later, Musk told Wheeler that if Twitter was banned from Apple and Google's app stores, the official gateways to iPhone and Android devices around the world, he would build his own phone. Wheeler had started her own poll asking people if they would use a "tELONphone," possibly in homage to Musk, who enjoys polling people on Twitter. At the time of publication, "Yes" had received 54.1% of the 582,357 votes cast. "I certainly hope it does not come to that," Musk tweeted, "but, yes, if there is no other choice, I will make an alternative phone." Both Apple and Google have policies prohibiting the inclusion of hate or discriminatory speech, bullying, harassment, or sexually explicit content in their app stores. Following the Jan. 6 attack on the United States Capitol, Apple and Google removed Parler from their app stores for its role in assisting rioters in planning the event, though it was reinstated after changes were made. Kanye West, who legally changed his name to Ye, is said to be in negotiations to purchase Parler. While Musk has stated his intention to build his own phone if Apple and Google cross him, it's important to remember that this man says a lot of things that never come to pass.I certainly hope it does not come to that, but, yes, if there is no other choice, I will make an alternative phone
