Android phone

Every Android phone, be it a Samsung, Pixel, OnePlus, etc., require regular maintenance. Additionally, various settings help users accomplish that to make their devices run smoothly and efficiently. Listed below are seven settings tips to enhance the performance of Android phones. However, not all of these Android phone versions consist of these settings.

1. Turn off auto screen or adaptive brightness

A smartphone with a poor battery life can be annoying. Besides, a brighter screen utilizes more battery power, so it is best to set the brightness level under 50%. Users can adjust this from the slider after pulling down the shortcut menu from the top of the screen. In addition, many phones have a toggle for auto-brightness in the shortcut panel. Or, users can go to the settings app, find the brightness setting and turn it off.

2. Battery optimization

These features allow users to optimize how apps are used and the amount of battery they utilize. Additionally, many Android phones will contain a dedicated Battery section in the Settings app. However, many Android phones do not have this section. Hence, it is best if users search for the term “battery” in the search bar. In addition, there is an option for adaptive charging for users to monitor how rapidly their battery charges overnight. And that can help them to preserve their phones’ health.

3. Dark mode

The most impressive feature to improve battery life in an Android phone is to use the dark mode setting. It is present on any phone with Android 10 or later version. It improves the battery life as it takes less power to display dark backgrounds on OLED displays than on a white background. In addition, dark mode reduces the strain smartphone displays cause on the eyes.

Interestingly, phones with Android 10 or newer versions enable users to set a systemwide dark mode. Other than that, other phones have this option in the settings section. Additionally, users can set the dark mode to automatically turn it on based on a schedule, depending on the sunset or sunrise time.

4. Keep the home screen free of clutter

Every time a user installs an app, it ends up on the home screen. As a result, it creates clutter and utilizes battery life. To avoid that, users can go to Settings and find an option labeled Add icon to Home screen or Add new apps to Home screen and turn it off.

5. Do Not Disturb mode

Android phones provide users with the Do Not Disturb mode. It keeps the phone silent during specific hours that users have set. Additionally, some phones label this setting as the Download setting or Quiet Time.

Furthermore, users can set the mode from the Sounds section in the Settings. In addition, users can set up a range of hours to turn off the digital notification sound. Besides, any notification users receive while the mode is on will be there when they wake up. Users can also allow calls from favorite contacts or repeat ones to go through while the mode is on. Hence, in an emergency, users can still get such calls.

6. The Find My Device feature

The Find My Device feature is handy if users lose their phones or it gets stolen. Users can turn on the feature from the Settings app in the Security section. In Samsung phones, it is present in the Biometrics and security section. However, the device must be on and online for this feature to work. Users can locate their device on the map and, from there, ring it, lock it, and set a lock screen note. Also, users can remotely wipe off the whole device too.

7. Regularly updating the device

A software update of the Android phone can fix bugs and other issues. But, users need to turn on the Wi-Fi to update the device to the latest software.
