Reels are one of the key components of Meta's platform, so Facebook Reels is getting new features to enhance the user experience. However, these changes come several months after Meta launched this same new update for Instagram Reels. In accordance with the new update, Meta is increasing the maximum length for Facebook Reels, from 60 seconds to 90 seconds. According to a report, this expansion is included in the new updates for Facebook Reels, following TikTok's move of increasing duration to ten minutes, from the previous three.
However, Instagram Reels' maximum duration is also the same as before Meta increased it in July 2022. In actuality, all of these recently introduced changes to Facebook Reels were first introduced to Instagram more than months ago. This can be interpreted as a tactic by Meta to see how these changes were received there before introducing them to Facebook. Substantially, this new update may be crisp to its competitor, such as TikTok, but every application has been gradually releasing updates for its short-form offerings. This indicates that there is a chance that Meta's Facebook and Instagram will adopt the 10-minute duration restriction. Reels were introduced on Facebook last year in an attempt to gain the popularity of short-form videos on TikTok. Although they initially saw this feature as a way to directly compete with other social media platforms, Meta soon realized that by bringing it to the two platforms, it could also launch a more potent counteroffensive. In addition, Reels are the Meta format with the highest growth rate, according to reports, and it is still expanding quickly. Over the past year and the past six months, the number of reel views on Facebook and Instagram has doubled. According to Meta, they will be publishing more tools to help creators be found. Grooves, a new feature that automatically syncs and aligns motions with the rhythm of the audio using visual beat technology, will be the name of this new feature. Meta is also incorporating Memories into this expansion, according to a report. A new "Share as Reel" choice will be available on Facebook from the Memories prompt for users. The decision was made by the creators in response to the daily sharing of memories by millions of users of the app. It might be simple to encourage more people to interact with this new style and test out this feature through Reels.
