First-Generation Smartphone Processor From Oppo Will Be Launched in 2024

OPPO recently reaffirmed that its first-party chipset objectives were not a passing fad by announcing the MariSilicon Y as a follow-up to its debut X. These two products are each a specialized image signal processor with an AI focus and a dedicated audio processor, although its successor may be an application processor (or AP) in its own right, similar to the Axx Bionic or Tensor chipsets. The OEM is rumored to have this chipset ready to control its first smartphone by 2024; the renowned leaker Ice Universe has now confirmed this schedule in their most recent publication on the issue. In order to accomplish this, OPPO is said to have hired "thousands of individuals." This story has sparked suspicion that the purported first-gen AP will be able to compete in its market because it will be manufactured on TSMC's 3 nanometer (nm) node, primarily because the MariSilicon X is a 6nm chip from the same source. It might or might not incorporate ISPs and other elements that may easily be in-house by that time, as well as the brand-new, open-source Dimensity 5G Open Resource Architecture from MediaTek (another frequently TSMC-affiliated chip-design business). Therefore, during the next two years, OPPO might be prepared to join companies like Samsung, Apple, or Google.
