First Look of "Supernova" from Thunderbird Is Out, An Email & Calendar Program

This year was devoted to coordinating and working on significant changes for Mozilla's Thunderbird, a venerable email and calendar program. The next significant improvement, known as "Thunderbird Supernova," is currently being demonstrated by the development team. The first stage of the software's redesign, Thunderbird 102, was made available in June 2022. It included an updated address book, a redesigned Spaces Toolbar (akin to the app switcher on Gmail and Outlook), and a simplified account creation procedure. Mozilla previously announced a significant design change, code-named "Supernova" by the development team, would debut in 2023. The actual version number is anticipated to be 114 or 115, depending on which Firefox release has been made available at that time. Credit: thunderbird.net[/caption] The Thunderbird blog has posted a draft layout of the new calendar design as the first look at the Supernova update. Not to worry, Mozilla has cleaned it up, although it still appears to be a calendar. You can choose which days are considered the weekend and hide weekends to free up screen space. Although the default "relaxed" density will have lots of room between buttons, the top toolbar will be completely adjustable, and a tighter interface will also be an option. A New Update to Mozilla Firefox Facilitates Private Web Surfing In a blog post, Mozilla stated, "We've purposefully made this calendar rather crowded to highlight how the simpler UI makes the calendar more visually approachable, even when dealing with many activities. All of the companion calendar's components—dialogs, pop ups, tooltips, etc.—are also being redesigned. The user can customize a lot of the graphic adjustments. The release of Thunderbird "Supernova" is still scheduled for next year, and work is still being done to convert the K-9 Mail app for Android into an official Thunderbird client. The project's website offers a download for the most recent version.
