Fitbit's website will soon remove the 'Sign in with Google button.

Google finished its Fitbit acquisition in January 2021, and we've seen Google flirt with introducing its services, such as Maps and Wallet, to Fitbit wearables since then. Fitbit integration benefits Google's Pixel Watch as well, with features such as Sleep Profile. Now, the acquirer is making changes to Fitbit's website, expelling the option to use Google sign-in — admittedly, to make way for the service's future as a Google-account-only service. Fitbit's companion app for wearable technologies now allows you to sign in with your fitbit.com username and password, or with your Google account. You can now authenticate yourself on the website using Fitbit credentials or by clicking the Continue with Google button. According to 9to5Google, Google will be disparaging the website's Google sign-in option soon. According to a new alert message on the Fitbit website, in the coming years, you will need to set up a Google account to set up new Fitbit smartwatches and fitness trackers. We've known about these changes for months, but the prominent alert is a recent development. [caption id="attachment_76946" align="alignright" width="930"] Image: Fitbit[/caption] Google wants to ensure that everyone recalls their Fitbit account login credentials so that they can move their data to a Google account when the time comes. Returning users are encouraged to reset their passwords or change their linked email addresses if necessary. Google clarifies further: We are working to remove the option to log in to your fitbit.com account using your Google credentials to support an improved experience that will be available soon." Remember that this transition will be progressive, and users can continue to use their existing Fitbit accounts until 2025. There is no timetable for the completion of the transition, but you must consent to the transfer of data from Fitbit to Google. Hopefully, the transition will go smoothly and without loss of user data. For the time being, just refresh your memory on your Fitbit login details if you haven't used them in a while.
