From October to December, Sony's gaming division sold 7.1 million PS5 consoles, up from 3.9 million during the same period last year. That's a whopping 82% increase, so the company's supply issues appear to have been mostly resolved, as has been claimed by the company recently. To put it another way, you ought to be able to purchase a PS5 right now with little to no delay. The company's Game & Network Services segment generated 9.7 billion yen, or 1.25 trillion yen, an increase of 53% year over year. This includes more than double the revenue from hardware and substantial increases in software (30%), network services (20%), and other categories like PSVR and first-party software sales on other platforms (73%). To put all of this into perspective, Sony has sold 32.1 million PS5s compared to 25 million in November 2022. This represents an increase of 28% in total unit sales in just one quarter. By the end of its fiscal year, it will have sold 37 million PS5s if it achieves that objective. Despite Microsoft's recent assertion that Sony has five times more exclusive games than Xbox, Sony has opposed Microsoft's acquisition of Activision.  God of War Ragnarök and Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut were the best first-party PS5 games this quarter. However, Sony's imaging sensor business continues to grow, with sales rising 63% year-over-year to 417 billion yen ($3.24 billion).  Sony's gaming business was larger than its other segments. Sony supplies the majority of smartphone and mirrorless camera manufacturers with camera sensors.
