Ford Ranger Wildtrak X Debuts as Raptor Lite with Off-Road Goodies

Image Credit: Motor1 Australia is receiving another kind of midsize truck, but North America is still eagerly for the new Ford Ranger. Between the standard Wildtrak and the powerful Raptor, there is now the new Wildtrak X. It is marketed as a special edition as opposed to a trim level and is the first model to feature the twin-turbo 2.0-liter engine in conjunction with a full-time 4WD system as opposed to a part-time arrangement. The new Ranger flavor features bigger tracks (+30 mm front and rear) as well as an additional 26 mm of ground clearance in comparison to the non-X Wildtrak. According to the Blue Oval, the go-anywhere vehicle has a "particularly adjusted" suspension for long distances and hauling freight without sacrificing comfort. It still has a substantial 3,500-kilogram towing capability and is equipped with brand-new 17-inch General Grabber AT3 all-terrain tires that are 265/70 R17 in size. Bilstein dampers, a distinctive front grille with auxiliary LEDs, cast aluminum side steps, and black badges are additional features that are noteworthy. The Trail Control system, which functions like cruise control for off-road travel at speeds under 20 mph (32 km/h), is a more significant enhancement. Ford adds Rock Crawl as a bonus to increase traction in challenging off-road situations when the vehicle is in low-range 4WD mode. A 10-speed automatic gearbox transmits the 201 horsepower (150 kilowatts) and 369 pound-feet (500 Newton-meters) of torque produced by the four-cylinder diesel engine with the two turbochargers we previously discussed to the road. The first Ranger variant to satisfy the Light Duty Truck EU Stage 6 emissions criteria is the 2.0-liter engine, which needs AdBlue. The Wildtrak X is equipped with matrix LED headlights, a sliding cargo rack, a folding roof rack, and an overhead auxiliary switch bank to power aftermarket equipment. It is available in a special Cyber Orange colour. The B&O audio system and the 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster are upgrades over the non-X model. In Australia, the Ford Ranger Wildtrak X has a starting price of about $51,000 and will be on sale in the second part of the year.
