Kelly Sipherd, an aspiring actress in the 1980s and 1990s, testified about Harvey Weinstein's sexual assaults on her that occurred in the same hotel room 17 years apart. Another victim of Harvey Weinstein, who reported himself for sexual assault in February 2020, was on the witness stand and sobbed as she described her horrors. She spoke as an uncharged witness, so neither the jury's deliberations on the assaults nor the 11 accusations Weinstein faces will be based on her claims. They would learn about Weinstein's alleged pattern of behavior from this, though. She continued by describing how Weinstein coerced her into having oral sex with him in 1991 and then masturbated in front of her in 2008. At Toronto's Four Seasons Hotel, both incidents took place. She outlined everything that happened in detail, recalling what Weinstein had said when he remarked, "You'll adore this, I assure you. It's alright, not for long, "she was being attacked for the first time. Kelly described to the jury how she kept pleading with him to stop as he kept telling her to "just relax" and threatening to f**k her. It will finish quickly. Just unwind. Kelly remembers meeting Harvey for the first time at a TIFF party in 1991 when she was 24 years old. She was irresponsible when Harvey asked her to go to a nearby public restaurant to have a drink of wine since she got along well with Weinstein and thought the talk was polite and professional. Kelly and Harvey are reportedly "truly sincerely having a very wonderful time," according to Variety. At the time, Kelly was an eager, aspiring actress who believed that meeting and getting along with him would advance her acting career. She agreed to go to Weinstein's hotel because Harvey had stated he intended to show her a script while they were enjoying their drinks. She later testified, "I was quite ambitious, I was thinking I wanted to obtain a part." Deputy District Attorney Marlene Martinez questioned her about the subsequent sequence of events, to which she replied, "It's really hard for me to talk about." She then revealed to her that shortly after their arrival, Weinstein entered the hotel restroom and returned "quick, aggressive, intentional," clutching a hot towel and merely wearing an unbuttoned shirt. Kelly claims that "It all happened fast" when Weinstein removed her skirt and applied the hot cloth to her v****a as he instructed. "My spouse adores this. You'll adore this, I assure you." After he forced her to have oral sex with him, she went on to describe the full act of forcible assault in detail. She claimed she was unable to comprehend what was happening and was afraid of what would occur if she attempted to leave. "You have to realize how frightened I was since it came out of nowhere. It came as a surprise." Then she described how she started to "hysterically" feel "nauseous, worried, and terrified."Kelly Sipherd She continued to get calls from Weinstein even after this, telling him how he had told her he liked her and would leave his wife for her. Her companion accompanied her on the trip to New York, for which Harvey Weinstein paid the airfare and lodging costs. Later, he offered her a position and contacted her to audition for him. Despite the horrific occurrence in her past, she thought this would be a "wonderful opportunity" to find her way to the industry. She was asked to meet for dinner and asked a friend to go with her so she would feel comfortable, but they were turned away when they got there. She hadn't given Harvey her room number, but when reception called the following morning, Harvey was on the other end of the line. As he was approaching, he began calling and belligerently requesting that she get rid of her buddy, but she kept refusing. But the calls persisted, and eventually the hotel employees had to step in and ask her what needed to be done. I could hear him screaming in the hallway, she pleaded with them, so keep him out of her chamber. She said, "I feel horrible, afraid of him...he r***ed me." She described how, despite making all the necessary preparations, she had given up on her acting profession despite being very serious about it. She attributed this to her interaction with Harvey Weinstein. She also discussed how this affected not just her profession but her entire life, including her marriage. She and her family moved at the Four Seasons Toronto much later in 2008 while their home was being renovated. The TIFF just so happened to take place at the same time as her hotel stay while they were there. She believed she was ready for a confrontation when she spotted Harvey Weinstein one day while she was in the lobby with her daughter and a friend. She wanted to know why since the trauma persisted all these years later and she was "ready to deliver it to him." I thus blurted out, "How does it feel to stand in front of the one woman who said no to you," after Weinstein's employee had led her to Harvey's room. She went on to say that the secretary was in the corridor when Weinstein "shuttled" her into the bathroom, shut the door, and began "prepositioning" her for sex because she was being too noisy. When Harvey's tone abruptly shifted and he "took his p***s out and started masturbating," she was shocked at how quickly the confrontation had devolved into this. She claimed that because he was much bigger than her and wanted to see her breasts while performing the act, "it became a negotiation" and that she was desperate for it to be over. She tried to avoid seeing, even though she thought it didn't take long and remembered some of the specifics. She went on to say how she kept quiet the entire time and kept this information from her husband and friends because she was "ashamed" of the whole scenario and felt "dumb" for getting into it. She attended the TIFF party with her friends because Weinstein had instructed his assistant to invite her, playing into their perceptions that she felt Harvey Weinstein was "pretty dang nice." Over the years she did tell about the incident to three of her very close friends and in October 2017 when the #MeToo movement got ignited following the assault stories of the victims of Harvey Weinstein, she told the jury, "I often wondered if I was the only person."
