Former glam-pop artist Paul Gadd aka Gary Glitter released early from prison after serving half his sentence

After serving half of a 16-year sentence for sexually abusing three young girls in the 1970s, former glam-pop artist Gary Glitter was freed from prison early on Friday, according to the Associated Press. Paul Gadd, the singer's real name, was released from a Dorset, England, prison and will now serve the remainder of his sentence on probation. According to a statement from the Ministry of Justice acquired by the AP, "Sex offenders like Paul Gadd are closely monitored by the police and Probation Service and face some of the strictest license conditions, including being fitted with a GPS tag. If the offender breaches these conditions at any point, they can go back behind bars."

According to reports, Paul Gadd, 79, was found guilty of one crime of attempted rape, four counts of indecent assault, and one count of engaging in sexual activity with a girl under the age of 12. Additionally, Gadd, a renowned music artist in the 1970s, attacked two girls in his dressing room who were 12 and 13 years old after separating them from their moms. And in 1975, he attempted to rape his third victim after crawling into her bed. Reports stated that Richard Scorer, an attorney for one of the victims, claimed Gadd "has never admitted his offenses, has never apologized, and has never shown any remorse." "Our client feels this was not the justice she was promised and the early release devalues her suffering and that of his other victims."
