The relationship between Matt Lauer and Shamin Abas is still going strong. Over the weekend, the couple went on a date night in New York City. Additionally, the PR executive, 53, donned a midi skirt, patterned blouse, jacket, and heels, while the former Today anchor, 65, wore jeans, a grey hoodie, a black jacket, and a beanie. Furthermore, according to a source who spoke to PEOPLE about the couple, "Matt and Shamin are happy and serious about each other. They had a good solid foundation as friends and in business when they started dating, and the romance has grown over the years." The insider continued, "They are happy and both busy in their own lives, as well as together. They have many of the same interests." According to the insider, Lauer had "kind of withdrawn from several friendships in the last year", especially after the publication of the autobiography of his former co-host Katie Couric, Going There.
