You now have a better chance of getting a good option for fast fiber internet service. All of Frontier's fiber markets in the United States now offer a symmetrical 5Gbps plan, or 5Gbps for both uploads and downloads. The business asserts that it is the first "major" provider to accomplish this feat.
You will be required to pay $155 per month, or $55 more than the 2Gbps tier, which includes installation and a router. However, if you frequently download large files or share your data with other household heavy users, it might be worth the investment.

To utilize the additional speed without relying on 10Gbps Ethernet, you will need a WiFi 6e router and compatible devices like the Pixel 7 or 2023 MacBook Pro. A 100-minute 8K movie can be downloaded in less than two minutes, according to Frontier.
The competition in your area determines whether Frontier offers the best deal. The $180 5Gbps plan from AT&T has been available for a year. Although it only serves a small number of cities, Google Fiber is on the verge of offering 8Gbps for $150.
However, Frontier may prevail over cable companies. Some areas already have Comcast's 6Gbps service, but its $300 monthly cost and non-symmetric uploads make it less practical.
If 2Gbps already seemed pricey, the higher cost of 5Gbps service may not be exciting. However, the rollout suggests that multi-gig internet service providers are becoming more competitive. That's good news for customers because telecom companies may compete for your business with more aggressive pricing and performance.
