Future-Proof Your Home Network: Introducing the Netgear RS700

Source; Netgear Netgear has announced its new wifi 7 router, the Nighthawk RS700, which is available for pre-order at a hefty $700. Even though the wifi 7 standard has not been finalized, the router is already available for purchase. It is designed with a more traditional tower structure, which deviates from the brand's usual wing antenna design. However, the Nighthawk RS700 comes with wifi 7 support, which promises to deliver faster wireless transfer speeds and less congestion compared to wifi 6E, which is currently available in the market. Netgear fans who are accustomed to the company's prominent wing antennas on their other routers may be disappointed by the new design. However, with the introduction of wifi 7 support to a more traditional tower design, the router promises an efficient performance. Although the wifi 7 standard is yet to be finalized, there is little risk that wifi 7 hardware already being sold will be incompatible with the final standard. As such, companies like Netgear, Asus, and TP-Link have started introducing wifi 7 hardware to consumers. Wifi 7 signals on the 60 channels of the low-latency 6 GHz band can be up to 320 MHz wide, compared to 160 MHz wide with wifi 6E. This means that the wider the channel, the more data it can accommodate and transmit. In addition, Multi-Link Operation (MLO) in wifi 7 enables signals to be transmitted across multiple bands, such as the 6 GHz and 5 GHz bands, at the same time. This feature increases bandwidth capacity and enhances the efficient use of analog wireless signals the router broadcasts and receives. Moreover, 4K Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) offers stability improvements, and an overall boost in wifi speeds. However, Netgear is getting consumers ready for the future by launching the Nighthawk RS700. The tri-band (2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz) router promises to cover an area of up to 3,500 square feet thanks to its redesigned antenna setup. The tower has eight antennas hidden inside and can connect up to 200 devices at the same time. For those with bigger homes, Netgear promises future software upgrades, allowing multiple RS700 towers to form a mesh network. Apart from its wireless features, the Netgear RS700 also boasts a 10 Gbps port for incoming internet signals, four 10/100/1000 Mbps gigabit LAN ports for connecting PCs, gaming consoles, and streaming boxes, and a single USB 3 port for other hardware, such as a printer or storage drive you want to share on your network. If you are in the market for a wifi 6E upgrade and want to future-proof your wireless network, the Netgear RS700 is an option to consider. However, those who want to upgrade to wifi 7 should wait until next year when more devices will support the speed boosts. The Netgear Nighthawk RS700 is a wifi 7 router available for pre-order for $700. The router promises faster wireless transfer speeds and less congestion than the wifi 6E. Although the wifi 7 standard has not been finalized, there is little risk that wifi 7 hardware already being sold will be incompatible with the final standard. The router is designed with a more traditional tower structure and eight hidden antennas that offer coverage for up to 3,500 square feet.
