Gamers Alert! Oxenfree Is Now Available as a Netflix Game

Netflix currently offers yet another adored independent game. Oxenfree, a 2016 release of the eerie thriller, is now playable through Netflix's nascent games service, the streaming giant revealed today at its Tudum event. With support for subtitles in more than 30 languages, the Netflix version of Oxenfree is a free download for iOS and Android users who are Netflix customers. While Netflix has been progressively expanding its selection of top mobile games, including Into the Breach, Before Your Eyes, and Lucky Luna, Oxenfree stands out since Netflix recently bought Night School Studio, the game's developer.

With its emphasis on narrative and a tone that will appeal to Stranger Things fans, Oxenfree also seems like a strong fit for Netflix. It's planned to make a sequel. According to Netflix, two games will debut on September 27th: Ustwo, a Monument Valley studio, created Spongebob: Get Cooking, and Desta: The Memories Between. A mobile version of the well-liked Kentucky Route Zero game and a baking game based on the Netflix series Nailed It is also marked as "coming soon." Late last year, Netflix began to dabble in gaming, but early indications indicate that most members haven't yet become interested.
