Georgia man charged with killing ex-wife’s divorce attorney, then set the office ablaze

According to accounts, a resentful Georgia man is accused of killing his ex-divorce wife's lawyer and then setting fire to the victim's law office. According to a report by KENS-TV News, Allen Tayeh, 65, is accused of confronting seasoned divorce lawyer Doug Lewis inside his Lawrenceville office on Wednesday and shooting him dead before setting the building on fire. After putting out the fire, firefighters discovered the lawyer's body inside the structure. Lawrenceville Police Lt. Jake Parker described the terrible murder as "very bold." It comes as somewhat of a surprise. Tayeh was still around when police arrived to arrest him, according to Parker, who claimed that a witness helped them find him. “The suspect that was detained actually had injuries that were consistent with being in or near the fire,” Parker said. “He had burns on the pants, singed hair. “He did have a firearm on him, a revolver that had spent cartridges in the cylinders,” the cop added. “And there were gas cans and an odor of gasoline around the area as well.” The couple is scheduled to appear in court next week, according to KENS, and Lewis represented Tayeh's wife when she requested a divorce last year. According to the publication, Tayeh was charged with murder and arson but has not spoken to authorities about his alleged motivations. Meanwhile, Lewis's passing was lamented by area attorneys. “Doug was a consummate gentleman,” local lawyer Phil McCurdy told KENS. “I’ve never heard him raise his voice. I never saw him lose his temper. I never saw him treat anyone except with respect. “I don’t know anyone who didn’t respect him as a colleague, as a professional and as a human being,” McCurdy added.
