Gold Trip Wins the Melbourne Cup

Australia's renowned Melbourne Cup was won by Gold Trip, with favorite Deauville Legend placing fourth. Additionally, High Emocean came from last to finish third at Flemington, and Emissary took second place. Australian jockey Mark Zahra and trainers Ciaron Maher and David Eustace won the race for the first time. Zahra, who was suspended last year and was unable to compete, called the victory "a miracle." Zahra added, "Mum used to give me the day off as a kid to watch this race so it's absolutely surreal to win it."

What's more James Eustace, a trainer at Newmarket, is the father of joint trainer Eustace, who was born in Britain. "I can't believe it and I'm a bit overcome. It's a dream come true and the pinnacle of our sport to win this race," he commented. On another note, thousands of spectators braved the cold and rain to attend the top-weight Gold Trip made the crucial move when there were only 300 meters left.
