In the United States, Google is bringing a "Continuous Scrolling" feature on the desktop for Esl queries. By scrolling down before seeing the "More" button, users can see a maximum of six pages of search results. Historically, the company has taken a "paged" approach to search results.
The new feature may also give sites that did not rank high enough to appear on the first page more visibility. People avoid going to the second page of Google search results, and only a few brave souls go to the pages after that — hence the joke: the best place to hide stuff criminally damaging is on page 2 of Google search results.
The change occurs at a time when many users are complaining that the quality of Google search results is deteriorating. In response, Google has implemented several changes, such as making search results more visually appealing. In September, it also launched a feature that displayed Reddit and Quora results in a section called "Discussions and forums."
While many features are designed with mobile in mind, Google is also working on improving desktop search. The company has been trialing widget-styled cards on the main screen to provide users with quick access to information such as weather and stock prices.
